INSTRUMENTS AND DASHBOARD
I started playing with the instruments really early!  The GTM instruments are housed in a  composite binnacle, and it wasn't long before I had got the hole saws to work, and trial fitted them to the pod.
rear of instruments This view of the rear of the instrument pod shows how the gauges are held in with screwed on bezels, except for the rev counter which has a pair of legs holding it in place.

On the warning lights, I marked their function, so that I could identify them when connecting them to the loom.

The GTM needs a couple of mods to this cluster. The resistor acros the rev counter is to make the output from the ECU match the instrument requirement.

The diode on the back of the ign warning light is to stop prevent a return current path which would otherwise mean that it is difficult to stop the engine!

Looks smart doesn't it?

Actually, I decided that I didn't like the look of the instrument pod or the dashboard roll being finished in gel coat colour.
finshed dash Covering this and the dashboard top with leathercloth was one of the few jobs I shopped out.

I covered the dashboard roll in cream leather cloth.

In an attempt to 'tone down' the amount of yellow inside the car, I also got GTM to supply me with black window winder, gear lever, and heater control surrounds.

I'm very pleased with my 'art deco' interior. Many years ago I had a BMW 2002 Turbo demonstrator, and that had red background to the gauges - I've copied that effect here.

The steering wheel is the standard Metro item. I've thought of something more wizzy, but actually this one feels pretty good.
No, I really didn't want a yellow dash.

(Sorry Rich) Richard Olafsson has a great build site
